E-Commerce Award Winners 2005

Date : 29/09/2005

For the third year in succession Scothosts have scooped a prestigious e-commerce award. In 2003 and 2004 the company were delighted to be judged in first place in the Best Use of Broadband category. Exempt from entering the broadband award due to our past success we instead entered the teleworking category, which in our opinion perfectly reflected our innovative working environment.

On September 16th 2005 at the award ceremony in Edinburgh, Managing Director Michael Clarke collected the Scottish E-Commerce Award for Best Use of Teleworking. On collecting the award Michael commented; “It is great that for the third year in succession that Scothosts are still pushing the envelope on innovative working practices. By further investment in technology we provide a working environment that embraces flexible working and in turn enhances staff productivity, so the company and the staff win on all counts”.

The judging criteria were as follows:

Entrants should demonstrate how the introduction of remote working has helped to improve the way the business operates and performs in terms of internal efficiency, productivity and has helped to enhance employees' work-life balance.

Applicants will be judged on how they have: utilised Information and Communication Technologies to work from home, SOHO (Small Office, Home Office), or remote locations, reflecting new opportunities in flexible working practices and locations.

Examples include:

* Provide a virtual working environment for people working from home
* Providing flexible working opportunities for working parents or workers with disabilities
* Developing a virtual company with completely outsourced facilities and no central office location

Scothosts are now automatically entered into the UK final for Best Use of Teleworking to be staged at a gala dinner in London in October.
